Uncontested Divorce & Mediation

An Efficient, Cost Effective Divorce Alternative

Not every divorce is a bitter power struggle. Amicable divorces do happen.

When a husband and wife agree on the terms of their divorce, their marriage can be dissolved in 60 days from the date of filing, thanks to the option of an uncontested divorce.

Relatively quick and inexpensive, an uncontested divorce can be a practical alternative for many divorcing couples, especially those who do not have children or large, complex marital estates.

Not Always As Easy As It Sounds

Uncontested divorces can easily erupt into power struggles that end up in court if the two parties do not fully understand the issues involved and the questions to ask. Even if you think you agree on all the terms of your divorce, it is important to have a lawyer to guide you through the process.

Our attorney, Lauren Cain, helps clients prepare all the elements of an uncontested divorce, including property division and arrangements for child custody, visitation and spousal support.

Getting It Right the First Time Around

Our family law attorney will make sure all important divorce issues are addressed so that you won't have to go back to court months or years later when an oversight turns into a serious problem.

Getting a Second Opinion

An attorney cannot represent both the husband and the wife in an uncontested divorce. We can, however, give both parties information about the legal process. If we represent the husband, for example, we recommend that the wife have another attorney review the divorce agreement before signing any documents.

Mediation: Less Costly, Less Destructive

When disputes over divorce or family law issues arise, the two parties can become adversaries and, backed by their attorneys, fight it out in court. Or they can choose to seek the advice of an impartial third party: a trained mediator.

The focus of mediation is not on winning at all costs but on finding a solution that is fair to all concerned. Mediation is typically less costly than litigation and tends to leave fewer emotional scars.

Our attorney represents clients in mediation of all types of family law issues, including divorce, child custody, visitation and division of property.
